2025年6月4日、国立高雄科技大学（台湾）のChing-Yu YANG学長及びShu-Ling HSIEH副学長をはじめとする訪問団が熊本大学を訪れ、本学学長の表敬訪問の後、工学部、大学院自然科学教育部との意見交換を行いました。
国立高雄科技大学は、学部から博士課程までを提供する高雄を代表する国立大学です。日本で学位を取得した教員が多く、日本語能力の高い学生を輩出しているため、日本の大学教育・研究への理解が深いとされます。また、現在、本学大学院自然科学教育部は、国立高雄科技大学の工学院（工学部）、及び電機資訊学院（電気情報工学部）とのダブルディグリープログラムを締結しています。

最初に井原敏博工学部長/大学院自然科学教育部長より学部紹介を行った後、高藤誠副学部長が、国立高雄科技大学・東亜大学校（韓国）・本学の日韓台3カ国共同で実施している学生交流企画「International Capstone Design Camp (ICDC)」による学生交流について説明を行いました。
さらに、くまもと水循環・減災研究教育センターの川越保徳教授がセンターの紹介を行いました。
国立高雄科技大学からもWen-Jui TSENG国際部長より大学紹介とCheng-Di DONG水圏科学部長より、水圏科学部の紹介をいただきました。
また、現在更新を予定している交流協定、編入学や今後の連携について、国立高雄科技大学との連絡調整責任者である北直泰教授（大学院先端科学研究部）を中心に意見交換を行いました。
今回の訪問により、学部間だけでなく、大学レベルでのより親密な交流が期待されます。
Delegation from National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), Taiwan, paid a courtesy visit to Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Science and Technology
On June 4, 2025, a delegation led by the President Ching-Yu YANG and Vice President Shu-Ling HSIEH of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), Taiwan, visited Kumamoto University, and exchanged opinions with our faculty and graduate school after a courtesy visit to our university president.
National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology is the leading national university in Kaohsiung, offering undergraduate to doctoral programs. Many of the faculty members have obtained degrees, and the university has produced students with high Japanese language skills, and is considered to have a deep understanding of Japanese university education and research. In addition, the Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) has concluded the Double Degree Programs with the “College of Engineering” and the “College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science”, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
First, Dean Toshihiro IHARA, Faculty of Engineering/Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST), introduced the faculty, and then Vice Dean Makoto TAKAFUJI explained about the International Capstone Design Camp (ICDC), a student exchange program jointly organized by the three countries (Japanese-Korean-Taiwan): National Kaohsiung University of Technology, Dong-A University (Korea), and Kumamoto University.
In addition, Professor Yasunori KAWAGOSHI of the Center for Water Cycle Marine Environment and Disaster Management (CWMD) gave an introduction of the Center.
From National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Dr. Wen-Jui TSENG, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, introduced the university, and Dr. Cheng-Di DONG, College of Hydrosphere Science, introduced the Department of Hydrospheric Science.
In addition, the participants discussed opinions on the exchange agreement currently scheduled for renewal, as well as on transfer admissions and future collaboration, led by Professor Naoyasu KITA (Faculty of Advanced Sciences and Technology), who is responsible professor for coordination with National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
This visit is expected to lead to closer exchanges not only between faculties but also at the university level.
